Please keep in mind that 'mum getting a job' and 'someone else raising the kids' are not same thing. Hubby and I hope to share care when we have children (God willing)... so that we both work part-time, both look after the kid(s) part-time, and maybe work out an arrangement with family or church members so that they have them occasionally too.agkitty said:Oh please, don't give up. I know it's hard, but you are leaving behind a legacy for those kids. Do you want someone else raising them?

Now Athene might be planning to put her kids in daycare 9hrs/day, 5 days/week... but I think it's a good idea to clarify before trying to convince her against it!

Mmmm... we've thought through most of these -Leanna said:We discussed an arrangement such as this. Our major problems were as follows: to get promoted in the kind of work we want to do, we will have to be full time or be doomed to never ending bottom rung payment/income(at my job, I would have had to be demoted because my position was full time only), we would have had to pay a lot higher premiums on insurance, we would have had more trouble saving for retirement because no retirement benefits, very little or no paid vacation, and I think there were a couple others.... like the fact that since we want 4 children, I would have to take a lot of maternity leave..... so those are some thoughts for youWe do shared parenting, we just do it differently
InTheFlame said:- Insurance... why would you have to pay higher premiums?
I was wondering if that was the case. No, here it CAN be cheaper, but most people buy health insurance on their own.Leanna said:We've always had a group plan insurance, first through my jobs and now through his job. We tried to get one on our own, not through his job, and it would have cost a lot more. It is always cheaper to get on a plan through an employer than to buy health insurance on your own. At least here that's true
