• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Check it out:

EDIT! (Apperently I can't post websites because I don't have enough posts yet... I'll fix that in a second)

There's a picture of a brain scan on there, I've seen that same picture on two different sites now. It seemed like the other site I was at was a little more informative about the scan itself... I haven't really had time to read this site yet but I wanted to give the link right away. Check back soon and I'll try to find that other link.

Hope this helps.

By the way... I just made a huge step in getting over a major episode I'd been going through for almost 2 months. There is hope, even though I don't feel like it sometimes myself!

I'll try and find that other site and post it soon!

ok, I found the other site, it has more info

Once again, sorry for all the posts, I feel like an idiot

Here's a copy and past from the site, this write-up is from a site called Brain Physics:

"OCD is caused by increased activity in certain parts of the brain -- the orbital frontal cortex and caudate nucleus. The orbital frontal cortex, located behind the eyebrows, is involved in the perception of fear and danger. The caudate nucleus, one of the brain's communication hubs, is involved in one's ability to start and stop different thoughts and activities. OCD may also involve abnormal functioning of the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain."

Apparently they can see this with medical equipment. Might be a good idea to get one done, I've been wondering the same thing as a LOT of people think it's all in my head as well, and that I could just "stop thinking about it". It's irritating. I feel your pain. It's hard enough to have OCD, let alone when no one believes you.

God bless.
