  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

which did you use? we were using Avent but he gets real gassy from them and he spits the formula out the sides of his mouth, i think the nipple is too wide.

now we are using Dr browns.... we only have 3, so we need to get more but they work amazing!! no spit out of his mouth and not as much gas

We use Evenflo. They are pretty cheap. Being a little older and wiser than I was a year ago , if I had to do it over again I would have tried Dr. Browns. David was colicky and I have since always wondered if it wasn't the bottles that was making him so gassy.... but I never thought to try a new one, and he grew out of it. Now he just drinks the bottle and burps nicely, end of story. Its so nice when they get to where they burp themself and can even hold the bottle.

Next time I have a newborn though I am going to try Dr. Browns. The cheaper bottles work great for bigger babies though... they aren't picky and can handle gas.

We use Dr. Browns too. Ellie almost never spits up and only has trouble w/ gas every now and then. I chose them because they are supposed to help prevent ear infections. I had terribe trouble with my ears as a child and the Dr. said that may be hereditary so I hope it helps some!

I got the cheapest bottles I could find that would screw onto the bottom of my pump and fit in the pump cooler (I think they were called cribmates and cost 99 cents each), and slow flow NUK nipples. As long as it went in the dishwasher and were compatible with my pump setup I was happy. Since I nursed when I was not at work or having breastfeeding troubles, I was not usually the one giving bottles but oh dear did I have to wash them. Fortunately my children weren't big spit-up-ers.

We also started with avent, then moved on to playtex (with the drop-in liners) and Christian really prefers them. We tried Dr. Browns and a few other brands, but always came back to the playtex ones.

We use Playtex Ventaire bottles with Christian, it is funny that two of us here have children named Christian, though mine is a girl.

Thats the kind we use too..but, lilly has alot of spit up with hers...and she is a gassy baby...we have thought it might be the bottles...and heard good things about dr. browns...judging from all the great posts about them..they may not be a bad investment.

I am not sure, they work great for Christian, um maybe the nipples are not open? Try sticking a tooth pick in the hole in the nipple, ours did that and then they worked fine.
