I am a 50's child, and I thank God so much that I was born in 1950 ,and my childhood was in the best decade ever,IMHO!
This club is for everyone who feels the same. Lets see what all we can think of that we loved about that time, when we were children.

First of all I would have to say how I loved the innocence and safety of the decade. No one ever heard of Halloween candy being tampered with and we all went Trick-or Treating on Halloween night ,in the dark! The special quiet, family Sundays, because nothing was open. Often visiting was done then,or family pincics. I loved those little jukebox players in each booth in cafe's that we could pick the songs we wanted to hear, right from our seats! TV, movies, books, radio, music, was all was inoffensive. We had to go "downtown" to do our major shopping and it seemed so much more special being in the- out- of- doors going from store to store, than going to a mall. Stopping at Woolworths for pie or a sandwhich when finished shopping was a special treat. The cars were super and so individual and unique, than the cookie-cut copies today, many had awesome paint jobs with flames on the front end, ect. American Bandstand, Ed Sullivan, and Wonderful World Of Disney were like an American Tradition[later Johnny Carson would join them]. And of course IMHO the best music there ever was! 50's-60's.

Remember any of these? I remember going to the theater and seeing Ben Hur with my family.

1950's Academy Awards

"Camera, Lights, Action!"

Let's take a trip back to see what we can see
To the 1950's without VCR's and DVD's
Off to the movie house with a date to hold our hand
To see the best movies and stars in movieland.

The theaters contained only one movie screen
With a commercial to go to the popcorn machine
We saw a cartoon; such as Tom and Jerry the mouse
Or Sylvester and Tweety demolishing the house.

The newsreel would flick the "News of the Day"
Before the main feature got on its way
Then we all settled back to watch the stars we adored
And hoped they'd get picked for an Academy Award!

. . . and now, on with the show!
