Hi all.

Knowing a person's library is a great thing.

I thought it would be good to make an ongoing thread about either what you are reading and/or what is on the top of your reading list. Post anew as what you are reading or wanting to read changes.

I have been reading:

The Prophetic Imagination by Walter Brueggemann

And I am wanting to read:

Gandhi And Beyond: Nonviolence for an Age of Terrorism by David Cortright

My library is rather ecclectic.

It ranges from books on small animal husbandry to christian theology to sociology to occult philosphy to history of art to cookery to economics to music to arceology to in depth details on current UK social policies to the occasional fiction book.
The range of bibles runs from 'the Graphic Bible' to the amplified to the message to greek....but I gave up trying to read that.

Same as Vespasia - a little of everything but more archaeology/anthropology for Celtic Britain (my area of interest) & HS stuff, 'cause that's what we do. Big classic childrens section, big gardening section, select theology section as that tends to get very expensive very fast. I use our local library heaps as lots of what I want is out of print &/or very hard to locate ie history of the Brian Boreau harp. Photocopy is a wonderful thing!

I run somewhat heavy on anabaptist & catholic theology (I gave most of my calvinist books away).

I'm waiting for Rethinking the Wineskin by Frank Viola to arrive and and reading Pagan Christianity by the same.

I keep seeing Pagan Christianity mentioned round the forums. Can anyone give me a quick synopsis?

Here's a link to some of his articles. Note particularly the "pastor" and "tithing" article. They are almost verbatim from that book.

Viola says that much of the current practice in our churches come from pagan practices and not Christian ones. He's an advocate of the home church and sees problems with the institution of the "church" as being mainly what is wrong with the Body at this present time.

Pagan Christianity is high on my 'to read' list. Can't wait to get to it.

Frank Viola has many short articles on the Net. Just google his name.

I started feel sick yesterday and wanted something simple to read on so I went up the library (in my attic) and found a copy of Insomnia by Stephen King...

It's one I kept-there is a line in there that always struck me

"Everything I do I hurry through so I can get to the next thing I must do"

Well, let's see here, I'm tinkering in Pilgrim's Progress, I've been trying for a while now to get to my Memoirs of a Geisha book. I still haven't finished the third book in a series of christian novels I got a year or so ago. Plus, I'm in two bibles, the KJV and the Catholic NAB. I also have devotionals from Spurgeon that I read. I'm obviously all over the place.
