This is an idea i have that has to do with meeting with people, the same people more. I've all ready said i think groups or one on one relationships should meet at least twice a week, but the early church started with neighbors and friends. Today, it is very unlikely to know our neighbors in your area. What i want to do when i have more money to feed people, is to invite my entire block or street to dinner at my house once or twice a week, to at least start to get to know the people around me. Because, not knowing your neighbors means that you don't even know if they are Christian or not. Once you start to really get to know them, maybe invite just the Christians in your area to another dinner a week, or if you were doing 2, change one of the discussions to be purposely about spirituality, or theology. Like i said in my previous blog, anytime you meet with people or God for the purpose of building relationship, about ½ of the time should be social discussion, and ½ should be spiritual. Getting to know your neighbors gives huge advantages, because you are so close, no commute for anyone. Weather you give up your church that is modeled after today's popular “church” or not is up to you, but i plan on still attending one, but putting more energy and time into something that would actually help build relationships. So, im trying to get Christians across the Internet exited about my “block church” idea.
