Probably preaching to the choir for most of the regulars on the board, but good info 75% of the Church by a survey does not believe in the Church teaching on the Eucharist and the bishop explains why it is central to the Church.

Which only shows to go ya to double check the wording and the authorship of the surveys that you are taking.

Don't just assume that "because it's a survey" that the writers of the questions know all about what they are asking!

I get your objection (based on what happens in political poling) but I think you are wrong in this case based on hearing the bishop.

Really the only problem I can see is terminology and that would only be for those few theological folks. 75% of Catholics see the Eucharist as "a nice symbol" From the way the bishop talks about it, it sounds like there were stronger options on the table as far as transubstantation goes. Now once upon a time, and on certain topics like the Nicene Creed, symbol has a more powerful meaning (being used more like the Way the Eastern Orthodox use the concept of Icon), but it seems in this case to be used more in the modern, colloquial (less strong sense).

PS - actually if you freeze the video at the 42 second mark you can see the exact options that participants were given.
