  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

if you can read a lot history that may not be very appealing to many, start from the beginning of Genesis. But if you want to know more about Christ, Start From the new testament. Read Acts to learn about the first missionaries and read Psalms and Proverbs for encouragement, well at least for me

There are several types of reading plans...

some are found here- http://www.seriousd.com/plans.htm

If you do a search in google for bible reading plans you will find tons...

with these plans you are able to read a bible in a year, read from old and new testaments, or a bunch of other things.

Your best best is to get the New Testament done first. The whole Bible is important but the best way for most people to start is to read the NT, then start into the OT. If the OT starts getting you bogged down at any point, then go back and read something from the NT... . Whatever keeps your interest and concentration at a halfways decent level- it is pretty easy to get tunnel vision in parts of the OT, and you end up skimming; not really understanding what you're reading. Some people have made their first pass through the Bible 3 chapters at a time, and it works. Starting with a relatively easy-to-read translation helps too- the whole Bible in KJV English can be a bit overwhelming. Many folks stick to one version or another but getting one you can read well is essential to making it something you want to do. I made it cover-to-cover through 5 different translations so far using these general ideas, but you will discover what works for you soon enough. Happy reading... .
