“Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless his holy name” David here is encouraging himself to worship God…he is speaking to his soul and reminding himself of all the things that God has done for him, this is God's Benefits Package… Sometimes we think about our health plan or our retirement plan but this is our serving God plan…
The God of Benefits
David reminds us that we should forget not all his benefits In Psalm 103:3-5, five marvelous “benefits” are listed.
Forgiveness...God forgives all our iniquities
Healing...God heals all our diseases
Redemption...he redeems our life from destruction
Crowned with loving kindness ...who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies; God’s plan is only to bless us...he causes us to wear his lovingkindness as a crown...
Satisfaction...Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; Man in the world cannot be satisfied...he is always looking for something...only God can truly satisfy...
Ps 36:7-8 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
