Baiting Rule Discussion

Woob posts something here, Night responded, woob reported the response though his comment (woob's comment that is) was baiting....

so we either ignore or blast... Personally a little blasting never hurt, but the rules of the forum don't allow such....

Two wrongs don't make a right. If someone does come in here, and is flamed for baiting, then both people are guilty of violating sitewide rules which forbid flaming and harassment.

How are you going to do that when I am telling you that I wasn't?

You would have to prove that I am lying. Yet, I am not lying, because just as you have every right to post in here so do I. And if I see a post that has drawn me out, in which case I did with Night who mentioned my name, then I don't see why you should expect me not to respond to that post, or why you should feel that if I do respond to it that I am baiting him.

Woob, I don't have to prove anything.... you don't think you bait, I have observed your responses and in my opinion you do... you bait and flame... just my opinion.... while you have promised to be kinder and gentler, I have yet to see it and I doubt that its possible for you follow up on your promise...

I don't care if you post here or not, feel free to do so, however its quite telling that you run and tattle when someone says something to you that you don't like....

If you are accusing me of breaking the rules then you need to prove that I have done so.

If you aren't willing to do that then that certainly does say a lot about your claim.

Did you know that about 97% of the posts that I reported were acted upon?

Yes, some were deemed NV, but that is only because the violations weren't so obvious. But the majority of the reports were found to be valid violations.

What, do you expect me to not report rule violating posts? It's not going to happen. You can call these reports frivolous all you want, but the reporting isn't going to stop until your friends learn to be more respectful of the rules!

ahh yes, you are the righteous one, never wrong, and if you search you would find that I did post an apology some time ago... nonetheless, Woob, you a consistent violator refuse to do the right thing... so save it for someone who is gullible.... you are not capable of consistent kindness... it doesn't seem to be in you... and as I said, don't promise... just do it...

I would normally agree with you. This rule does seem a little subjective; it would require the mods to try to determine someone's motives in posting. It also strikes me as being somewhat reactionary, like many of the rules that I have opposed in the main forum. At the same time, we don't want people coming in here just to provoke other posters so that they can report the responses. I've seen some things lately that I would consider harassment. I'm kind of torn on this one.

A couple of the rules from Atomorrow.com might be useful here:

In other words if someone comes to post in a hostile manner those in the discussion can respond with equal hostility. We might have to work on how to word it but I think there is an area between the personal attack of saying you are stupid which would be a flame and saying you are speaking in an ignorant way. That would not be a flame because it is an expression of what they have been saying. It is probably a more hostile response but in the instances we have been referring too it would be an equal response to the baiting.

So you could still have it as a baiting rule but make it clear that those baiting will not be free from receiving the same type of comments that they have used up to the point of actual flaming under CF rules.

Woob, do you realize that your whole focus has become being the forum 'police person', pointing out supposed rule violations, reporting them, defending what you reported, and then coming back in to find more to report? You're in too many people's faces.

Did you ever think that this is the result of all of the abuse that has been going on in here while we had no SDA mods to enforce our rules?

What was the point in reporting posts when the mods wouldn't enforce our rules?

And have you noticed that a lot of people have left our forum? They left because they got sick of all the abuse.

That is not an excuse for what's been going on here over the past two days. You get to choose what your focus is, not anyone else. If you want to make it the enforcement of rules and being the police of the forum and reporting anything you don't like that is your decision.

And have you noticed that a lot of people have left our forum? They left because they got sick of all the abuse.

Maybe some did leave for that reason. But I know several others who left for other reasons that reflect poorly on some of the trads here. In my experience it's not much different than what goes on in the churches.

As a member of this forum not only is it my right to report rule violations, it is my duty to do so.

Mark my words, whenever I see a rule violation I will report it. If you don't like that, then you should ask yourself why you are really here.

Exactly Free. We always hear Honor and Woob bellyache and whine about this supposed mass exodus of Trads that left over some supposed horrible abuse.

Notice they never address the Progs that got fed up with the intolerant garbage and legalistic nonsense of the Trads who left also. How very convienient. Woob carefully sidestepped that little fact and quickly changed the subject, did you notice?

The only other class of people that I know of who are experts in putting such a biased, one-sided spin on a situation are politicians.

Woob, you can post reports until you puke for all I care. Just be prepared for the inevitable backlash that is going to come from each and every one of us, because you are going to get fought tooth and nail for every single report you try to get validated.

Count on it.
