Are you voting?

For Americans this coming Tuesday is election day.

So it's a simple question. Are you voting? Answering yes or no is enough, but it would be interesting to get a sense of what percentage of you are voting considering this is an important election (nationally as well as in many states) and because most of us are younger and generally young people are considered apathetic when it comes to the voting process.

As much as I would like to...I'm passing.

I just moved here little over a year and a half ago. I do not feel right in my conscience to vote until I at least live here for more time than that.

Plus I didn't vote in the primaries because the state I live in has a closed primary. The party I was affiliated with only had one person that I could vote for. Then I abandoned the party I was affiliated with because of their opinion on the BP oil spill and have realized that I'm not so political idealistic as I thought I was becoming. Went back to the party that I was at before and that I am now.

I may also skip the presidential election but I got time to consider this one some more.

I'm not sure that I will ever vote. I wouldn't do it unless I actually took the time to read through and understand the issues, I would never want to vote just for a party, or vote uninformed. And with that being said, the only time I truly tried to be informed was the last presidential election, and after reading all the issues and watching all the debates, I decided that I didn't have confidence enough to vote for either of the candidates. So I think voting isn't for me. I will just have to accept whatever leadership is in control in this country.

I'm sitting this one out. In my congressional district, the Republican candidate is going to win. No surprise there, he's the incumbent and he's in a heavily Republican district. The senate race might be up for grabs, the problem is that after both candidates have spent so much time telling me how unfit for office their opponent is I fear they may both be right. Ditto for the Governor's race. Frankly, I'm not entirely sure why anybody in their right mind would want to be Governor here anyway since the last few governors either are serving time or have served time in prison. Or are threatened with serving time.

Let's see.... Lester A. Tweevils or Batson D. Belfrey.... Hmmmm, that's a tough one.

Well, you talked about apathy and younger folks. I'm not younger (32), but I've never been apathetic about elections. I was so excited to be able to vote the year I turned 18 (presidential election year of Dole vs. Clinton) and I still get excited around election time. I'm less optimistic, though, that my vote means anything. Both main parties are incredibly flawed and not nearly as different as most people seem to think. And locally, 3rd party candidates are usually not an option...as in not even on the ballot.

I will still be voting and this year the excitement for voting is because all of the seats are close, even Feingold's seat and his has been secure for many years. I will be voting for Feingold and will be so mad if he loses to Ron Johnson. I may not think highly of most politicians, but he is a politician who has shown integrity. I may not always agree with him, but I respect him. Wish I could say that of other politicians. I will also be voting for the other seats, though the only other one I feel passionate about is the gubernatorial election.

When I was 18, yes I was excited about voting. I'm not anymore.

My apathy though is not leading me to not vote. I just don't know about the state I live in's issues, the city I live in's issue. I've been too busy with getting my life started over than to worry about every detail of the state I live in.

I pay attention to what I can nationally and globally and locally and a year and a half is just not simply enough time for me to actually vote with a clear and relevant conscience.

Now I have till Tuesday also. I have some local knowledge of what is going on. The people in my immediate surroundings are very conservative. So most of my information comes from a conservative bias even though I'm liberal(with a conservative streak in me) and I'm not around that many liberals so I have no liberal bias, which to me, the only way to be fair minded about issues is to look at both bias, instead of looking at the other side to better your own. I looked into this election back in the primaries.

We'll see what happens to say the least.

The odd thing was, I don't get excited about voting but when I changed my party affiliation, I felt it was a huge day for me. Ironic I suppose.

Yes, I'm voting. I'm passionate about exercising your right to vote. However, I am disappointed and often depressed when I think about my state's choices for governor. They both stink and I feel there is no good choice.

Yeah I am. Though I'm really not extremely interested in politics. It just gets confusing and it's sometimes hard to figure out who's the right candidate. Politics just bores me.

Though maybe someday I will take more of an interest in it. I probably will.

I'm not registered to vote ATM. Even if I were, I wouldn't vote for anyone in my state. Good ol' boys and politics don't mix.

I'll be there at the polls. I still need to read up on the seats up for election aside from the governor and senators, but the first act of the day will be helping to keep the words "Governor Paladino" from ever becoming a reality.
