  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are we able to eat in Heaven?

I like to eat alot. I like to know If I can in Heaven?

I'd say Yes, given the first thing is the "marriage supper of the Lamb"

bit hard to have a Marriage Supper if you can't eat.

But there's no death in heaven, so that means no living plants or animals are harvested for food. I guess it all must be created ex nihilo. And I suppose it doesn't need cooking and appears fully prepared. Gives a new meaning to the term "Meals Ready To Eat."

BTW: In this life, what goes in must come out. If the souls in heaven eat, do they also produce waste? Although if their resurrected bodies are perfect, they would digest everything perfectly, so nothing would need elimination.

But OTOH, the enjoyment of food is a corporeal delight. Heaven is a place of utmost eternal bliss. If a soul is already in such an exalted spiritual state, why would it desire any earthly pleasure?

I can't believe I've wasted 7 minutes of my life on this nonsense.

You will not want to eat.

Resistance is useless!

As I understand it, you will also never feel any negative emotion, like pain, fear, anxiety etc. It appears that your personality will be "cored" the way a cook cores an apple prior to baking.

It is not clear how this lobotomized end product still counts as being "me"

Yes we will eat in Heaven. The Marriage supper of The Lamb is one example.

Revelation 22

King James Version (KJV)

22 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

There are many Trees in Heaven to eat from. From my understanding from a vision I heard we will be eating fish if we desire. We will be able to go fishing and eat fish.

The fruit you eat will give you strength. We still need to grow. Just because we can not die doesn't mean we can not be weak physically. Our spirits need to grow. In hell they can not eat or drink they are in torment for eternity. We can drink from The Water of Life coming from The Throne of God.

To stand in the very presence of God is very Spiritually Draining. The food is for Strength to withstand the Power and The Glory of God Almighty.

Christians are trained on the earth to not have negative emotion. It is not a desirable reaction and, if possible, we are trying to get rid of it right now.

Without fear, I am still I.

Didn't realize Christians and Buddhist monks had so much in common.

It is not a desirable reaction and, if possible, we are trying to get rid of it right now.

"if possible" huh?

At any rate, you have the potential to feel fear at some stage, even if are not feeling it right now. For some people, it even counts as a "positive" emotion, or so I assume given the popularity of horror movies.

You wont even have that in heaven.

Without all your current emotions, you are definitely not you, as lobotomies in the past have shown.

I have the same emotion as you have. That does not mean I am you.
In Christianity, everyone is unique. So, what makes you unique? Certainly not emotion itself.

I read something once that said we do eat in heaven, but honestly I don't really know.

If we do "eat" in Heaven, then it must be a different process than we functioned now. I don't like to think there is a sewer system in the Heaven.

Just like we will still have emotion but no sadness, we might be able to eat without producing waste.

This may shed some light. The passover meal was a feast, featuring roast lamb.

Luke 22:15-17

15 "And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God."

So it sounds like there will be literal feasting in the kingdom, unless Jesus is referring to his 1000 year reign on earth.

Hebrews 13:2 is also interesting.

.

2 "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."

Entertaining angels would certainly include meals. Of course when those angels return to heaven they 'slip the surly bonds of earth' including the need to eliminate waste.

So we may have the best of both worlds in the kingdom.

I agree somewhat. Except making a note that the feast in the Heaven will be served with "spiritual food". May be the feeling of feeding will be similar, but the material, the process and the function should be entirely different.

The purpose of eating is to survive. If we will not die, then there is no need to eat. You will not want to eat.

Daf....
So...Adam and Eve didn't eat in Eden before the Fall (before which, they weren't going to die)? Or what about Jesus, after the Ressurection?

Yes, we're going to eat in Paradise, because our existence will be bodily just as it is now. And I'm pretty sure that the food's gonna be better than anything here on Earth
