  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I forgot that lovely part about the "love generation" (I'm 65). I had a number of friends who had to endure being spat on, being screamed at (nose to nose), etc., back then too, and like your dad, they had stand there and take it. HORRIBLE I am thankful that the military is FAR more respected today by the public, at least generally speaking anyway.

Bug Spray (I have found the new, yellow colored, all-surface, disinfectant Windex to be the best bug spray on the market .. it stops them in their tracks or flight .., and you disinfect and then wipe clean the surface that the bugs were on too .. and it cleans glass as well as the old Windex does )

As far as military service, I had planned on enlisting in the Navy, but Nixon ended the draft the year before I was eligible, so I decided to go to college instead. I have many family members, friends and colleagues who enlisted or were drafted who ended up going to Viet Nam however.
