Hello, i'm new here, and was wondering if any of ya'll play Warhammer 40K and what you think of it. I'm thinking of getting in to it and wanted to see if there was any advice on the morals of the game and if a Christian should even be playing it. Not trying to start a debate, just wanting to see other people opinion on the game. Thanks!

Hey thanks, thats is a great thought. I just wanted another persons opinion. I am fine with LOTR and the Inhertince Cycle (Egaron and his Dragon), but not the witchcraft in the Inhertince Cycle. In Warhammer 40K, there is not magic, but it is kinda evil. The Taus look like the best choice. Any advice is welcome.

There are those who would rail against this game because of the inclusion of deamons and the representations of the Chaotic realms, elements of paganism, idolotry, yada yada yada. But, like many things, it is what you do with it which determines its power over you. I have played for many years, and have always considered it an adult extension of playing with army men as a kid.

Only these army men are way more cool.

Thanks Gawon, that helps alot. I've been praying about it and after looking at my budget, have decided to get a game called Tide of Iron, by Fantasy Flight Games. It is kinda like 40K, but everything comes with it unless you want to get the three or four expansion packs, but are not required. I'm doing schoolwork (the game is a WWII stragety game that uses minitures) anyway, so the time to paint all those models is a factor, too. May be a good thing to do later in life. Thx again, God Bless

The Tau suck. They've got a lot of fire power, but once they're locked in assault, they drop like flies.

To be honest, the best races to start off with are either the Space Marines, Chaos or Necrons.

Necrons are fun, because their infantry's gauss rifles can shred through armour and infantry alike, and when they go down, there's always a chance they'll repair themselves and get back up.

So far I've fielded Ultramarines, Black Templar, Beil Tan Eldar, Dark Eldar and now I'm starting up a Necron army.

Psha. There is nothing like Imperial Guard autocannons and tanks to mince heavy armor up with the person inside combined with a liberal amount of artillery and plenty of lucky scatter dice.

Provided my inexhaustable supply of human shields keeps them busy long enough, that is.

hey there im agnostic yet i do play 40k so here's the advice i can give you as a gamer. the whole point to daemons and such in the game is storyline, now the armies that can be considered "good" (i use this lightly as some storylines blur the line lol) are as follows: imperial guard, any space marines chapter, tau, eldar. the "bad guy armies" would be: chaos space marines, chaos daemons, dark eldar, tyranids, orks, necrons. now these are only classified as such based on their storylines not on the kinds of units in their armies. no game has ever been "fueled" by evil powers. i played D&D and trust me i never heard evil voices or anything like that, just the random argument on what to do next in the adventure.

i see its been awhile since you posted that and i hope you chose to dive right into a very fun and exciting game and hobby, now if you ever look at warhammer fantasy don't judge it just because it uses "magic" keep in mind that the warhammer fantasy world is trapped in a warp storm in the 40k universe and those same "magic" powers would be psyker powers in the 40k universe.
adds to the story even more when you start reading the codex's
