• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Any reason to be here?

I am contemplating the number of reasons I come here lately. One of them seems to be habit which I am also wondering if it is a good one or bad one. I am thinking that maybe I need to get some perspective by staying away. I don't know when that might be, but it might be soon. The air has been getting thick here again and the ability to breathe is becoming more difficult.

There are also other things going on in my private life for which I am considering taking some time off. I have said in the past that I would be taking sabbaticals and have come back sooner than I should have. So I won't say when I will be taking one, but that one is impending.

Scott, I have often taken a hiatus from message boards I've been on and it greatly benefited me (and my family). Sometimes it has been for a week and others 6 months to a year before returning. There have only been a few boards I haven't returned to and that's because they were just "Christian" boards with the majority being decision theologists who boast a works righteousness and don't understand that it truly is works! LOL

So, the point of my post is one of support to let you know that it's ok to take a break...but then, please return

Hey Scott

I am in the exact same dilema as you are. I doubt that I spend as much time on forums as you do, but I have all but given up on another forum I have belonged to for over a year.

I think we need to carefully look at how we spend our time, as each day that is gone by we can never replace.

I think belonging to this forum is good, but we have to be aware that there are other things in life that need attention as well.

I am here right now simply because I can not sleep.

God's Blessings to you in guiding your decisions.

I know that this wouldn't work for everyone and may not work in your situations, but what I have found is that it is helpful for me to limit the number of boards (for me 3) and the number of posts on each.

Hope this might help
