  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does anyone have any miracle stories to share?

I offer the following tesimony:-

On May 17, 1987 a Christian friend called Paul and myself went rafting on the Elbow River, Alberta, Canada. We drove our cars west from Calgary and Paul left his car at a point called Richmond Road ( the proposed finishing point of our rafting trip). We then both continued in my car to Bragg Creek and parked close to the bridge at Bragg Creek ( the starting point of the rafting adventure).

We left Bragg Creek at approximately noon. After about two miles on the river, our path was blocked by a large tree (chopped down by beavers).

The raft floated into the tree and capsized. We were both thrown out into the river which was chest deep and cold. The raft came to rest under the tree and was snared by the branches. Paul freed the raft and I caught it as it floated downstream.

Well I know that this wasnt the Lord saving my life or anything like that, but its truly a miracle that I really appreciate. Last year, my grades were really bad. I had c's and f's. I had to go to summer school for math and retake science this year. Well i got my report card yesterday, straight a's for the second quarter, all a's and b's for the sememster average! The Lord sure can take a bad thing and turn it completely around lol. and I'm glad he does.

Future Preacher, thanks for your testimony ... may be your story shows the power of prayer to change circumstances.

To illustrate the power of prayer I will add this tesimony. It involves a lady called K who is a Christian and who I know.

She was invoved in the Cambodian killing fields. One day she was arrested by the communists and taken to a wooded area by two men. They said to her, " where do you want to die? " She repied, " give me a few minutes. " The men moved away from her some distance and she kneeled down and said to the Lord, " I am too young to die ! "

The men returned to where K was located and said, " We have changed our mind you can go but don't tell anyone!"

In 1952, as American evangelist Tommy Hicks was praying, he received a vision of Argentina and its need. Three months later when the word was confirmed in a prayer meeting.

Now sure of God's will, he flew to Buenos Aires. During the flight, the name 'Peron' kept coming to his mind. It didn't mean anything to him.

"Why, that's the President of Argentina," he was told. "God wants me to talk to him," thought Hicks, as the plane approached Buenos Aires airport.

The president had been suffering from a most persistent and disfiguring skin disease - an incurable eczema. It had become so noticable that Peron would not allow himself to be photographed.

Tommy Hicks, an evangelist from the USA was requesting permission from Peron to hold a salvation and healing campaign in the city, believing God had told him to hire a large stadium. The president, interested asked "Can God heal me?"

"Give me your hand", replied Hicks, and prayed. Before the astonished eyes of all present, the Argentinian leader's skin became clean as a baby's!

The eczema disappeared! Permission to hold the campaign was assured.

Hicks gained an audience with the president after dealing with an aggressive security guard in the same way. He prayed for the guard to be healed -and he was!

Huge traffic jams blocked all roads leading to the gigantic Huracan stadium in Buenos Aires during the most electrifying gospel crusade Argentina has ever seen.

Many thousands travelled by any means available from as far away as Brazil, Chile and Bolivia. People were saved, healed and delivered from evil powers daily.

The blind saw, the deaf heard, cripples were walking. Ambulances full of sick passengers were driven to tbe meetings and went away empty!

A boy of three had been unable to walk without heavy steel braces on his legs. When the crowd prayed, the boy's mother took off her son's braces in faith. The child began to walk unaided! Delighted, he ran up and down. The ecstatic crowd shouted cheered and wept for joy. Faith rose in many hearts and miracles began to happen spontaneously all over the stadium.

A doctor who knew the child's case was so overcome when he saw the miracle that he fell down, grabbing Pastor Hicks by the knees. "I want this Christ; I want to be saved."

Thousands, unable to get into the packed stadium thronged surrounding streets and heard the message broadcast through loudspeakers. Many slept in the stadium in spite of the winter cold to be sure of a good seat for the next service.

The crusade which began in Atlantic stadium soon outgrew the 25,000 capacity. But when Tommy Hicks announced that the campaign was due to close, there was a huge uproar. "Let it go on!" the crowd chanted for a quarter of an hour.

It sounded like the the roaring of a restless sea. What could the authorities do in reply to such a demand? The meetings went on - and increased in attendance!

Actually Rapha777 i was going to post this question but i think you got in just in front of me. I was just checking with the moderator where i could post this:

Does God perform miracles regularly in your life?
What miracles has he performed for you?

Anyway to answer your/my!! question, yes i believe i have had miracles performed directly for me in my life. One event occurred when i had asked God for an answer to a personal question. This was when i was quite young but the memory remains clear. I had asked God in prayer that if the answer to my question was correct that the next day should bring certain circumstances to fruition. Well the next day those certain circumstances did occur. The circumstances were such that it would seem unreasonable to expect it occur by pure coincidence.

+Numerous times where God has provided for needs asked through prayer.

Since i left school though these things have occurred much less often. Must be doing something wrong!!

tech.racer, I believe when we come to Christ, He gives us some special experiences to encourage us. Then as we get older in the Lord, He wants us to mature so we walk by faith and have a personal relationship with Him.

I am not saying the miracles cease when we get older in the Lord but things change, experiences are different. May be the Lord wants a person to pray and fast, wait on the Him more when "the Lord feels farther away."

For example, a short time after I was born again I used to pray for the sick just using the simple prayer of faith and God graciously healed several people. Later he moved me away from healing for a season and focused me on learning interpretation of tongues, prophesy, tongues. Then later He brought me make back to praying for the sick and put it together with word of knowledge! The Holy Spirit is the best teacher!

I am sure other people out there have something to say on this matter.

Yes i think it is reasonable to believe that with maturity God asks us to walk more by faith rather then reward, but there are also a few other possibilities that would seem plausible.

1) It could be we a straying from the path that he had planned for us, of which during our early years we really had not much control over.

2) The innocence we are born may decrease with experience.

3) We have more time in younger years to devote and are better able to devote, possibly more willing to believe.

4) God is building our faith by testing it
