Any good places to get away in MI or OH?

Hey all,

I live in a suburb of Detroit. I am looking forward to the end of my semester (which is at the end of March) because I am planning to get away for a few days to just spend some time alone with the Lord. I am looking for a decent hotel that is not in a big city. I would love to be out in the middle of nowhere in a nice Holiday Inn or Red Roof or whatever. Just so it's nice and quiet and even possibly nice scenery. A nice peice of God's creation in nature would be cool to see too.

Does anybody have any ideas? Being around the city for so long, I have no idea what's out there. Thanks.

Sure... Do you want to hike along rugged trails by the powerful Lake Superior? Do you want to meditate by waterfalls and smell the crisp air of the northern Spruce woods? Do you want to listen to the Sandhill Cranes as they fly overhead and the Loons lonely call from pristine lakes? Do you want to feel a kinship to brother Wolf, Bear, and Moose? Do you want to watch the Bald Eagle soar and Fish jump in the rushing streams?

Come to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. But please leave behind your rock music and your four-wheelers and snowmobiles. Obey our laws and respect our nature and honor our people.

If so, Welcome.

Even closer, the west coast of MI (where I'm located when not in Ann Arbor) has some of the most awesome shoreline without being on an ocean. The Holland State Park is one of my favourite places. Anyway, I suggest looking into Saugatuck, MI (just south of Holland) or Holland itself which I love dearly.

Dundee is in the middle of nowhere, has some decent hotels & a Cabela's. It is about 30 minutes from Toledo, OH which has a fair museum, great food (Tony Packo's of M*A*S*H* fame.) Also, there is a golf course, The Legacy, in Michigan, that has awesome cabins to rent. They are inexpensive for a group to rent this time of year. By "group" I mean you & some friends.
