  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ok, I decidedly dislike Norton now, after, when uninstalled by a non-suspecting Pastor, decided to disable DHCP ... which took me about 3 1/2 hours to figure out why in the world the network wasn't working.

What antivirus program would be good? I'd rather stay away from Norton and McAfee now, and use one that gives antivirus protection, not tries to take control of everything.

Namaste paulewog,

thank you for the post.

typically, it's due to how they acutally work (filter driver) and the OS's memory manager. Depending on your OS, you will see a vast difference in the actual performance of the anti virus software on your machine.

I read your other post also about Norton taking over your computer. I use Norton, but I have some of the bells and whistles disabled. I changed to Norton from McAfee because I couldn't turn the bells and whistles off on McAfee. I have a comfortable configuration for Norton now and have used it for over 2 years with no problems at all. I have the Norton System Works version, but I have all of the utilities disabled from automatic use and only use them when I want to.

Go to System Info and get a list of your starting programs to see which programs and components load at startup. You can selectively disable what you don't want to start automatically. I hope this helps some.

In Christ.
