  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hmm, I think everyone, especially when we are new to Christianity, or even when we have just been "away" for a while, we tend to be awkward about it. especially if we are around people who know us as the old "unsaved" us. With Christ in us they begin to notice a difference and many times will wonder what up. I do believe it takes a bit of getting used to, its such a personal thing, but when we begin to spend more time around other believers, it helps greatly!

I think in a way, its the same as being ashamed, but I think its something we all encounter at some point. Dont fret, just trust.

I find/found it easier to just share what God has been/was doing in my life & give Him the credit. Fr example, if I got a good grade on a test, I'd say, "Praise God," or "Thank You, Jesus!" Little everyday phrases like that, made/make it easier to "witness," to others~ maybe because I had laid the,"groundwork," so to speak. Read about Moses.....

I think that what is happening is that our decision to trust Jesus as our personal savior is a very intimate thing. Sharing that intimacy with someone is a little difficult at first.

Another side of the embarrassment issue is that the 'world' had made traditional values out to be something that is held in disdain for the most part. Being a Christian involves believing in God and the world tries to portray questioning the existence of God as being enlightened and beliving in Him as being traditional. The world tries to infer that believing in God is somehow not enlightened. To be thought badly about is embarrassing and this is what brings out the feelings you cite.

After a while you will get accustomed to talking about your faith. As you press in to the Lord the things of God become so normal and natural for you that when you run across someone who doesn't see things the way you do it is a surprise. Yes, you can get there, just nurture your relationship with Jesus, listen to what He has to say and you will get there.

Meanwhile, rest in that assurance that your sins are forgiven, even the embarrassment. Look at Peter. He actually denied Jesus three times and went on to become the head of the church. Our sins are forgiven, that means they are no longer there! They're not put in file somewhere to be brought up again when/as/if we mess up, they're gone. Completely.

Rest in that and nurture your relationship with Jesus. We are living in a time when that relationship is not only important for our own private lives but it will be vital in the world too.

God Bless you
