• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My son has them. In fact, this is the single most obvious hurdle that he has. At 11, he struggles for control in the face of disappointment, often causing him to loose control and spiral into a meltdown.
Thus far, we have worked with traditional behavior modification concepts with some success. We are about to work with a neurodevelopmental therapy this summer in hopes of developing neural pathways that allows typically are without. Neuroplasticity concept.

Basically, we believe his stressful situations often cause his fight or flight mechanism to kick in for minor simulations, rendering his reasoning skills useless. Using neuroplasticity therapies, we hope to build those pathways.

My son has them as well. We are through with testing and waiting for results to see if he is officially ASD, but his behavior so fits the profile. His anger issues were what drove us to a psych doc in the first place, and they suggested ASpergers/ASD. We have our results meeting July 2, at which point i hope we will be pointed toward ways to mitigate them.

What age is your son? I hope your results meeting proves to be helpful and that you and he can move forward from there.

Both my asd sons have anger issues, one with people, the other with things, but the latter gets into a rage more often than the other. I hope to chat with the former's social worker about helping him deal with his anger issues as he gets quite worked up and agitated. The other son has been spending some time with someone from the National Autistic Society doing travel training and we're hoping that she will be able to work with him on his anger issues.

Dealing with both is very wearing.
