Allergy Testing

Sorry I just now saw this. I have had it done and yes it does itch very much

A doctor pricks you with about 10 diferent stuff at a time and then in about 15-20 minutes he comes back in to see if you had a reaction to any of the stuff he stuck you with. He then pokes you with about 10 more stuff and repeats the same thing. He poked me with about 30 diferent things and it showed I was allergic to certain things but I cant remimber all of them.

Yes, but it really isn't that bad just blow on the itchy spots. That is what I always do.

I forgot to say it feels really good when they come in and wipe it off.

The amount of itching will depend on how allergic you are to the substances. I was tested for 130 things at one time, all over my back. I was highly allergic to a great deal of them so they immediately turned into itchy mosquito-like bumps. I was told I had to lie there & not touch my back for 20 minutes & then I was left alone in the room. At one point the itching became almost unbearable & I thought to myself that I just couldn't stand it but then I started whispering over & over, "I can do all things through Christ." Then the Holy Spirit brought other scriptures to my mind and I quoted them while I waited for the 20 minutes to pass. This focused my mind on the Word of God instead of the itching on my back and made it much less intense. Yes, it does feel great when they come in & clean it all off you! I was also given 2 shots of epinephrine to stop the reactions & the itching.
The Lord led me to allergy shots. I had suffered with allergies for 38 years but last fall they suddenly became much worse than they'd ever been. I've been on the shots for a year this month & I can tell you they have made a dramatic difference.
So don't worry about the testing. It only takes a short time & the benefits are worth it when you start feeling better from the shots. I would do it over again. If nothing else has worked well enough for you & you are willing to commit to 3-5 years of shots, this might be a great option for you. Talk it over with your family doctor or make an appointment with an allergist. They can also put you on some meds that might give you relief until the effects of the shots kick in. A steroid nasal spray was very helpful to me and I use Zyrtec as needed. You may have to try several different allergy pills until you find the one that works for you. Allegra stopped working for me & Claritin would work for a few hours & wear off. Zyrtec can cause some drowsiness but I take it at night.
Good luck to any of you who are going for allergy testing. You WILL be able to get through it, even if you become very itchy like I was. Quoting the Word of God worked wonders for me in being able to get through it.

My Doctor told me that food allergies are hard to test!

I had it done many years ago. Yes it itches, but it's worth it to find out what you are allergic too.

For years I would get sick every winter and they would just write it off as "bronchitis" and finally after the allergy tests they were able to start getting me some relief.

I don't think so , The best think is to get advice and recommendation for the physician ...

If I may recommend, ask for intradermal skin testing....the prick test is not very effective. I had the prick test done on me and gave me false negative results. After being subjected to intradermal testing, I learned of many allergies that proved later to be accurate.

I know what you mean about doctors being rude and not going back. I've done the same (about this and other things )

I have allergy from mud and dust and don't know what to do recently i went for a check to the nearest care center and they told me come next week for a check up...
I don't know what to do ....... There is mud at my front yard and been planning to remove it but my schedule is so tight so what to do......
Few years back my grand pa was also facing this type of allergy and now he is also been diagnosed with dementia and been living in the aged care nursing home... So i m worried isn't there any thing to do with mud, dust with any other disease.

Do you remember what the testing cost?

If you want to test that something is allergic for you. Suppose if you get allergy on your skin by using some cosmetics then you need apply some cosmetic on your skin before makeup if it rashes and appears red spots on your skin, then don't apply that makeup on your skin. Don't use anything which makes you feel uncomfortable.
