“All Hallows’ Eve falls on 31st October each year, and is the day before All Hallows’ Day, also known as All Saints’ Day in the Christian calendar. The Church traditionally held a vigil on All Hallows’ Eve when worshippers would prepare themselves with prayers and fasting prior to the feast day itself.”

When is the last time (if ever) that we had such a feast day?

Eastern Orthodoxy observes the feast of All Saints Day (although on the the Sunday following Pentecost rather than November 1st), and generally, in the Orthodox Church, to receive communion, one prepares oneself by prayer and fasting from midnight before.

It's pretty normal in traditional/liturgical churches. So it likely just depends on how strictly your church adheres to the Church Calendar.
