Plot: very much a cyberpunk type story, this is set in the future of an alternate reality, where magic is real, and magical energy is called onima. Technology uses electricity and onima equally much, and interesting things come from onima. Onima is generated by living things, so every machine with onima energy is powered by some kind of life. Cyberpunk is a type of dismal, super-capitalist genre where corporations have taken over the world, and in this region, one called OnTech is most prevalent. Think everything that is done by a government, now it's done by corporations.

Rules:Yes, we can use weird funky powers, though I'd like you to run them by me first, email me I guess. Exciteman2vahn@aol.com. I'm trying to keep this at least a little serious, so if anyone picks this up and wants to make it really funny, no offense, please don't.

The alleyway was dark, and the rain came down in sheets. The garbage stunk of decaying food and something akin to diapers. My stomach used to wretch at the aroma, but it's grown used to it now. I looked up from the pile of trash I was digging through: my home. A siren in the distance pierced the air, and an onima police car rushed by the opening of my hovel of an alleyway, sending panic-driven chills down my spine. As the sound died, I relaxed, and went back to my pile.

Suddenly a girl about 16 climbed cat-like out of a small hole and started to dig through the rubble and garbage her blond hair falling over her shoulder and into her face. Lea impatiently brushed it back and she soon claimed her prize, a beautiful gold bangle bracelet.
"Finally, I knew I hid it here."
Then she slunk back through the hole, not knowing the boy was watching her intently.

(I'm really 13, work with me ok?)

The girl was amusing, she didn't even notice me. I creeped up to the spot she had disappeared to, and decided to wait outside. Company is rare out here, and a girl like that could either be good conversation or a really nasty pickpocket. Either way, it should be amusing next time she'd come out.

This was much nicer than I had expected. Go figure. I had been stuck outside for weeks in this muck of an alleyway, and not ten feet away had been a nice place to stay. Well, that's ok. I sat down, still ignoring all the damp clothing. The fire was warming me up, and drying me off. Good.

I looked at her. She was young, younger than I was at least. OnTech was evil to the core. The only way anyone could live without them anymore was like us, out here, in the slums. I shrugged. "I'm a traveler. I try not to stay in any one place for too long. I used to work for OnTech, but that was a whole lifetime ago."
