God creating Adam from the dust of the earth is perfectly in line with the rest of creation. Tell me. From what pool of available elements was God working when He created the planet out of nothing?I was quoting the YEC's very favour-est book in the whole wide world: Genesis 1-2. Normally that is to be read absolutely literally, of course. Except for when, as here, it doesn't suit them to do so.
Entirely false. The writer of the book of Genesis never intended his account to be taken literally at every point; the reference to God forming humans from the "dust of the earth" is a poetic way of saying that we indeed spring from the physical stuff of which the earth is made. Which, of course, is entirely consistent with what the theory of evolution (which has tremendous evidential support) asserts.

I am a bit surprised that no other poster has yet answered as I am about to (although I suspect it is the view held by the OP):

Nothing in the Bible validates evolution. Everything refutes it.
Genesis 3:19. "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."
Ecclesiastes 3:20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.
Psalm 104:29 You hide Your face, they are dismayed; You take away their spirit, they expire And return to their dust.
Psalm 90: 3 You turn man back into dust And say, "Return, O children of men."
Job 34:14-15 "If He should determine to do so, If He should gather to Himself His spirit and His breath, All flesh would perish together, And man would return to dust."
Isaiah 20:19 Your dead will live; Their corpses will rise You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy, For your dew is as the dew of the dawn, And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits.
The Bible could not be more clear; man was made from dust and from dust he will return. Evolution is a great lie. It has no relation whatever to the truth of God's word. True believers reject that man-made distortion of reality and accept the words of the Creator.
But surely you must be aware how the claim that man was made "from dust" is entirely consistent with the theory of evolution. It is also consistent with the view that God basically made man "as is" from the dust (which I assume is what you believe). The Bible could not be more clear; man was made from dust and from dust he will return. Where did the earth come from? It didn't even exist a week before. If he created Adam from the dust of the earth, where did the carbon come from? It doesn't say nothing; it says the dust of the earth.
Was adam formed from the dust of the earth or was he born from a woman? Was he created by God, or did he have some almost-but-not-quite-human parents? What does the Bible say?I can't see anything there that refutes evolution.
Not in the least. How could man be formed on day 6 and evolve over millions of years? But surely you must be aware how the claim that man was made "from dust" is entirely consistent with the theory of evolution. It is also consistent with the view that God basically made man "as is" from the dust (which I assume is what you believe).
Jesus was a YEC.So a YEC thinks that even something out of a book of 150 poems has to be read as if it was something from the flight manual of a 747. Now why doesn't that surprise me?
Jesus was a YEC.
As He said, "If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?" (John 5:46-47)
Jesus spoke of Noah by name.
Romans 5:12 "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned."
There was no death before Adam and Eve sinned. If there was no death, then there could have been no evolution.
Choose your God; the Lord or Darwin. You can't serve both. One is a liar.
I am sure you will know my answer: the "7 day" account was never intended to denote 7 literal days. I am quite sure that you will ultimately be forced to concede that you have no substantial argument as to why we need to take all Biblical texts literally. Do you really take this prophecy literally? Not in the least. How could man be formed on day 6 and evolve over millions of years?
I have always contended that those who say they believe in both evolution and the Bible have a firm understanding of neither. They are mutually exclusive explanations for the origination of life.
Where did the earth come from? It didn't even exist a week before.
Can a God capable of creating the universe not make carbon? I wasn't aware that our Lord had such a restriction.

There's another option, maybe your interpretation of Genesis is incorrect. That would make whoever taught you a liar (or more likely just mistaken).
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
The "dust of the ground" is mostly made up of silicon dioxide and various silicates. So, if we are invited to believe that the above verse is literally true, how is it that the human body is 18% carbon by weight, with only trace amounts of silicon present.
