Adam: Once trichotomous. Sin> dichotomous

I am debating/discussing this teaching over in the Soteriology forum.
In the Dispensational forum I also am asking if anyone has ever heard of this teaching before, but am not receiving any feedback.

Basically, the idea goes:-
Adam was trichotomous. He sinned and become dichotomous.
When we are converted we become trichotomous again (Prior to that we are dichotomous: because we were "in Adam").

In a nutshell, "We receive a human spirit".

I was wanting to cast out my net as far as I could to get some feedback.
HeyMikey is posting on the topic.
Has anyone here ever heard of such a teaching in historical theology?
