One day The Lord brought all the animals in pairs before Adam to be named. After giving out all the names Adam saw that there was no help meet, or companion for him, and he become lonely. He thought about this a great while, and went to the Lord.
"Lord," he said, "I noticed that all the deer and lions and bears have companions that help them out. I was wondering if I could possibly have one."
"That would be good, because it isn't right for you to be alone," said the Lord, "what would you like?"
"Well," Adam thought about it. "I would like her to be the most beautiful creature that you have ever created. One that would be great company with me, would like to have long talks and walk with me in the cool of the day. One that would love me unconditionally and always submit to me. One that would take care of my needs and desires, be the mother of all my children, cook and clean for me, and always have a cheerful spirit about it."
"I could do that for you, Adam." Replied the Lord, "but it would cost you an arm and a leg."
Adam thought about that for a minute, then replied. "I have an extra rib here, what could I get for that?"
