I'm still not convinced that the Creation account in Genesis is literal.
Not Arguing the Trinity.
Actually I'm not arguing anything
I'm still not convinced that the Creation account in Genesis is literal. Oh well I'll agree to disagree if you will Brother.
Don't worry, your not alone
Accepting that the universe is around 13.7 billion years old, the earth being 4.5 billion years, does not go against the Christian Faith.
Really you can debate 6 days was 6 thousand years but you can not debate it was 6 billion that is not supported by Scripture.
Well I agree we disagree. I am not arguing either Just stating what I know.
I have a question why does the earth have to be old? why does evolution have to be the way it was. WHy can we not take creation as literal? why not? is it pride? do we not want to seem foolish?
I mean we are not talking about a person But God, who all things are possible, He does not need to take so long. the creation story even tell of creation of heaven it is called the firmament,.
Gen KJV
6 Then God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.
Telling us the actual age of the universe and earth is, is not the goal of scripture. Your right, your not going to find 6 billion years in the Bible. Then again the Bible's goal is not to give us accurate science.
are you suggesting the Bible has errors? Truth is The bible is very accurate even call the earth a sphere when people thought it was flat.
This is another example of why we shouldn't be using the King James Version in the 21st. Century. Nobody today uses the word 'firmament' so it has to be "translated" into sky or more accurately the atmosphere. If God called the region between the seas and the clouds "Heaven" (as we understand the word today) then why don't we see Him, Jesus, the angels, the throne, etc. since they are in heaven? Clearly something else is meant.
Most modern translations translate Genesis 1:6-8 as "God said, Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters and let it separate water from water. So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. It was so. God called the expanse sky. There was evening, and there was morning, a second day." or something very similar, which makes it far more understandable.
I'm just curious about something, where does it say in the Bible that the earth is a sphere?
