Oh, in the Alaska story? It was an economy. Note: these men were not Orthodox, and the monogamy thing was too hard given their political situation, etc. So they kept their wives as an economy knowing that their children would not be given this economy to do the same.

Did you read the whole post? He said that the Bishop out of "economia" allowed that generation who were already ...practicing polygamy go, and he did not allowed it for the next. That is those people who would be getting married after they converted on they would be entitled only one wife... I am sure Audio can speak for himself for that too... that was my understanding at that time.
God bless,
Philothei

I think it makes sense to an extent. For instance would the church really want to break up existing families? Accepting people who are currently married to multiple people places the church in a hard place. Either they breakup existing families, not exactly something the church would lightly do or they they accept those who are already married multiple times and say it is a limited time anomaly. I personally think the right choice was made. I mean what about the second or third wives with children by the man. Do you really want to dissolve that union?

Life is pretty strange. I've never heard of it before today so obviously it's not at all important in the scheme of things. In the end is it more important that they had Christ, or at least for a while they were married to more than one woman.
