A woman doesn't. Unless it is an issue of rape (in which the child is still not guilty of any wrong doing in the matter), she is free to abstain in behavior that may result in a pregnancy.
I would also like to address the assumption that a number of children waiting for adoption is some kind of rebuttal. There will ALWAYS be children waiting for adoption. EVEN IF EVERY child were matched up with a home or were taken in by someone at this very moment, tomorrow would bring about another amount of children that would likewise be in need of adoption. And since there are procedures and screenings involved so that they aren't simply 'given' (thrown) to anyone or everyone regardless of requestor's behavior or intent, they will be "waiting for adoption" until the precautions protecting them are played out. After decades of use and millions of killed unborn, the implied claim that somehow abortion is an answer to the 'child waiting for a loving home' hasn't proven itself as 'the cure', now has it?

If I ever do end up having an abortion (I'll be taking every possible measure to ensure that I never will), you can forward your complaints to the doctors who have refused to perform a tubal ligation on me. "You're not old enough to make that kind of decision. Come back when you're 35 and have 3 kids, then we'll talk."

This is something I have never understood. Why, oh WHY, are doctors making these decisions for women? My sister wanted a tubal ligation after her second child, and she was pushing 30 even then. She had to fight nail and tooth before the doctors would agree that she did indeed know if she wanted another child. I think you should be able to sign a waiver saying you won't sue if you change your mind down the road, and the doctors should immediately perform the operation.

I agree completely. If they're afraid of lawsuits, anything can be waivered. I'm not kidding, ANYTHING can be waivered.

Just look at MJ's nose. His surgeon's got a stack of waivers a foot high, I promise you. I personally think it's highly irresponsable for anyone to do any more work on him, but it's his face, and it's his money, who has the right to tell him what he can't do with it?

Same with my tubes, if I want them tied, their my tubes, and it's my money, who has the right to tell me that I don't want that?

Two wrongs don't make a right, in rape there is still life, in abortion there is nothing but death. I am amazed how little poeple regard the value of a life........thats why there is murder in the world. You might not agree, but I say abortion is murder, and there are a LOT more murderers in this world that we are alowed to know about.

Consider this:

there are theories that violence can be passed down in some way through genes.

Would you take the risk that your child would turn out violence and possibly rape others?

I know if i were woman, and I were raped, I'd try to get a morning after pill ASAP.

This isn't any kind of rebuttal, either, because there is no plan to take care of the pregnant mothers and the influx of babies should abortion become illegal. We can barely take care of the children in the foster care system as it is, what resources are we going to draw from to take care of millions more babies if abortion were stopped? Would the nation like its taxes increased to provide the prenatal, postnatal, and other forms of care that these mothers and children would need?

Animals cannot commit sin, people can. I rethought my answer and I suppose one could get married after menopause. I think the Church would allow that.

Guess what, I have studied both sides of the issue for years and I know that abortion is ending life; however, I do not care.

Until that life is viable - it is the mother's choice period. I doubt legislatation will ever change that. You can call it selfish or lazy to abort - all of that is moot if you refuse to address why the women who go through it see it as a neccesity. Everytime you disparage these women, everytime you cut them down and refuse to address their very real concerns - you push yourselves farther from actually solving the issue.

I don't like abortion, don't want to ever have one, but I am not so arrogant as to assume I could never be in a situation to neccesitate one. If I were raped - I'd abort. I've been assaulted before and it doesn't matter that the child doesn't deserve to die - the reality is I could not carry such a child to term. I would rather die, so you only have the choice of 1 death or 2. If my life were in danger - I'd abort. I'm not going to leave my husband (I'm assuming I'd have one) or any other children I'd already birthed to give birth to another. My responsibility to the ones already living on this planet outweighs my responsibility to the one in my womb. If the child had a degenerative and terminal genetic abnormality/disorder - I'd abort. I will not give birth to a child who would only know suffering.

I have known a few women in my life who have aborted, as well as one who did not - but should have. Their reasons were not my reasons, but they were not any less real to them. These are complex issues, which require multi-layered responses. Young women need to learn to respect their bodies and themselves and demand the same from those in their lives. The need to understand birth control and be taught to use 2 types - everytime - unless they are in a committed relationship where children are desired. Adoption laws need to addressed - some women will not hand a child over to the state for placement, with good reason.

There is a lot that needs to happen that can significantly reduce the numbers of abortions in this country - do you actually want to do the work or do you just want to insult the women who make different choices than you?

So it's ok for animals to have sex, regarded as a sin, just because they're animals?

Why couldn't god have made it so that people only acquired sexual desires AFTER marriage if that was his plan?

Animals have no eternal spirit. That is why they are animals and we are human. Sin exists in the world today. I guess we simply need to keep our focus on GOD
