  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ezekiel Becomes A Watchman

Ezekiel 3:
16
Now it came to pass at the end of seven days
that the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
17 Son of man, I have made you a watchman
for the house of Israel
; therefore hear a word from
My mouth, and give them warning from Me:
18 When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’
and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn
the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life,
that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity;
but his blood I will require at your hand.
19
Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn
from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall
die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
20
Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness
and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him,
he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die
in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be
remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand.
21 Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous
should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because
he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul.

Bearing the Iniquity of the Congregation is the
Responsibility of the Priesthood.

Numbers 18:
1
Then the Lord said to Aaron: You and your sons and your father’s
house with you shall bear the iniquity related to the sanctuary,
and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity associated with your priesthood.
22
Hereafter the children of Israel shall not come near the tabernacle of meeting, lest they bear sin and die.
23 But the Levites shall perform the work of the tabernacle of meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity; it shall be a statute forever,
throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel
they shall have no inheritance.

Ezekiel and Jeremiah were both called from the priesthood.

Ezekiel 1:3 The word of the Lord came expressly to Ezekiel the priest,
the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the River Chebar;
and the hand of the Lord was upon him there.

Jeremiah 1:1 The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin.

The High Priest bears the iniquity for the Holy Things

Exodus 28:
36
You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it,
like the engraving of a signet: HOLINESS TO THE LORD.
37 And you shall put it on a blue cord, that it may be on the turban;
it shall be on the front of the turban.
38 So it shall be on Aaron’s forehead, that Aaron may bear
the iniquity of the holy things which the children of Israel hallow
in all their holy gifts; and it shall always be on his forehead,
that they may be accepted before the Lord.
43 They shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they come
into the tabernacle of meeting, or when they come near
the altar to minister in the holy place, that they do not incur
iniquity and die. It shall be a statute forever to him and his
descendants after him.

The priesthood of the New Covenant is taken from the tribe of Judah.

Hebrews 7:
11
Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood
(for under it the people received the law), what further need
was there that another priest should rise according to the order
of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron?
12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also
a change of the law.
13
For He of whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no man has officiated at the altar.
14 For it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, of which
tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
15 And it is yet far more evident if, in the likeness of Melchizedek,
there arises another priest
16 who has come, not according to the law of a fleshly commandment, but according
to the power of an endless life.
17
For He testifies: You are a priest forever
according to the order of Melchizedek.
