Why does God allow animals to suffer?
I'm not talking about animals that suffer at the hands of sinful man i.e. (willful torture of animals simply for the sake of torture.)
The question is focused toward the natural course of an animals life in the wild. For example, a water buffalo being eaten alive by a herd of lions, or a python slowly sufficating it's prey, or myself ordering a Lobster steamed alive because it tastes better. (sorry, I don't feel bad for the Lobster).
As far as I know, animals have no sin.
Why do they suffer?
What do you say?

BTW- I am NOT a PETA fanatic, I'm simply interested in why God allows this. Just trying to draw closer to God and understand His ways more fully.

A side note: PETA has forced RedLobster to kill their lobsters before they are steamed. I actually had a manager come to my table and refuse to prepare my lobster the way I have had it perpared for years prior.

I've always heard that it was a natural consequence of the Fall. THat the Fall caused death on all the world, not just on mankind.

Now, I'm not sure that's an acceptable answer, because it makes you wonder why God would make the animals suffer because of our sins.....

I've never really given it much thought though.......good question.

Hi Sister!

well using that arguement we could ask why should babies die , they haven't sinned .....

I can see few have a problem with inheriting eternal life by the actions of one man , and even here the creation is caught up in the revealing of "the sons of God " ......... that means when all God's people are finaly gathered in and saved , creation itself will be transformed and will be placed beyond suffering and death .

Now if all of these things come by the action of one man , Christ Jesus , why should it seem strange that even animals should suffer due to the action (sin) of one man , Adam .

Greetings Cygnus

btw , some don't see physical death as belonging to the fall of man , they see it that God created things mortal , "we were gonna die anyways" ............. and that death in Eden was simply seperation ..........

that is the liberal darwinian anti- PSA view !

With Adam's sin death entered the world and not just for human beings.

Death here includes: war, brutality, disease, suffering, pain, etc. etc. etc.

In short, sin has effected every aspect of creation, thus Paul says,
