So if I constantly strive to further my own goals by accepting what others offer to me, I am in fact acting selflessly?

Wow, I´d had never thought of that!

You don't understand. If you are sure that there is no god, that there is no doubt, you wouldn't have pushed the button. That is a fact. If you deny it, you haven't open you mind further enough

It would seem that this is another Christian who can recognize no motivations beyond reward and punishment.

To the OP, I'd defiantly press the button.

Just because I don't think I'll exist to enjoy the world after I die doesn't mean I don't have an emotional investment in it being a better place both in general and in particularly for the people I care about. I have a trait called empathy that allows me to be happy that other people are happy (It helps primates get along in large groups).

Also at the instant I die I am still able to feel and change the world to a manner I'd prefer it… in this case to have it include my nearest and dearest. Why would I spend my last instant aware _ever_ mourning my soon to be dead friends when I could be content that at least they will live on?

I feel you have made a mistake in your definitions.

A Theist is someone who believes in a god or gods, an Atheist is "Not a Theist"… the opposite of belief in a god is to lack belief… this set includes both those who have faith that there are no gods and those who merely don't believe due to lack of any reason to.

For example a person who had never been told that there was such a thing as a god or spirit would be an Atheist because that didn't believe in any god or gods… but you couldn't accuse them having faith in there being no gods, they wouldn't even know what you were talking about.

Right.

May I make is absolutely flipping clear to everyone that
"IN REGARDS TO GOD"
Means "in regards to the judeo-christian concept of GOD"
