A question

The universe itself is proof. It must have come from something. Even some of the most athiestic scientists are starting to realize this. It's called ID.

All we have to do is find the correct religion. As Christianity is the only one where God actually wants to be with us, and died for us freely, it is the only one that makes sense. No one can achieve perfection on this earth, so salvation cannot be based on works. And if a god doesn't want to listen to us, what can we do? So you see, only if God comes to us first, with salvation as a gift, can we be saved. This is just one of many reasons Christianity is the truth.

Study any field of knowledge and you will find different schools of thought. So with Christianity. Christians begin with the New Testament record of Jesus. As in any study, look at what people say, analyse their facts and logic, and draw conclusions. You are not expected to believe without some acceptable basis for that.

It's hard and foolishness for those who do not believe my friend...because it seems so down right nasty from someone who says that they love us forever...but his ways are higher than ours and therefore I cannot speak much into why he made things the way that he did.

Please read my signature below and take heed to what I am about to say. Who determines logic? Logic is simply simplicity. It is throwing out all the formulas and theories and bringing in the things built into human nature and revealing them. As stated earlier nature is no doubt the highest bit of logic we have. There are natural laws set into motion that are logical... for example: If I ask is anyone there and something replies "no" logic tells me someone had to say that and therefor someone is there. Like looking at a building and knowing someone made it then glancing at creation and knowing that someone made it as well. Probably the greatest peice of logic I can offer anyone is the greatest evidence of God yet the most overlooked. If a person rejects the bible and is ultimately confused about the divinity of God they can find the answer right within themselves. What I mean to say is that a part of us was created to be with God forever. It is the part that makes everything else ultimately useless. It is the part that says there is no meaning to life ONLY because God has not filled that void. When we allow God to explain logic to us and reveal truth to our hearts we find ourselves in the bible... His Holy Word. Until a person can accept this void in their spirit and ask God to fill it they cannot cross the bridge into biblical understaning and logic. So I must say that the way to a logically sound life with God is through His own revelation and word.

You raise a good question. Truth, can be found. If you seek to know who God is, He will show himself to you. Christianity is a faith based in sound logic.

To begin, let me say that we have all been evil in God's sight. You will find the Ten Commandments in the second book of the Bible called Exodus. These are only a few of God's commands, and most of us have broken them all. That is why we are headed for hell, not because we don't believe in God. It is because we are evil and deserve it.

So what do we do? Nothing. We can't make up for our evil (sin). The punishment is death. (this is found in Genesis, the first book during the fall of man). We cannot live through the punishment. But God loved us, so, he made a way.

God became a man (he had to be a man in order to die and pay the penalty of death). He was called Jesus. He lived without doing evil, and died as a substitue for us, so that if we trusted in the work he has done for us, we could be forgiven. This means giving our lives to him, and that is why we must believe in Jesus.

I hope this makes a little more sense out of why we must believe in Jesus. I hope that you will look into the claims of the Bible itself as well. You will find a lot of good information if you study textual transmission, or Lower Criticism of the Bible. That talks about the trustworthiness of the written words in our Bibles. Also check out stuff about Apologetics. There you will find information on the history, and the geography of the Bible. Read the prophecies (located in the Old Testament). check the related history, the dates they were written, and also what is said about Jesus himself, who was not born when they were written. Friend, this is a common concern; a lot of people ask this question. Think of it this way: the Lord created us for His own purposes. He gave us the ability to think, act, and plan, and so we tend to think we are our own. We're not.

Imagine for a moment that you married and had children, and your children denied you as their parent. Then they cut down a tree, fashioned it into a bird or a calf or something else, covered it with gold, and said, "This is our parent! We will no longer be subject to you!" Then they stopped talking to you. They refused to acknowledge your presence. Every day they'd come into the home you provided, eat your food, wear clothing you provided, and enjoy all the fruits of your labor. And then they'd go to the wooden chunk they carved and say, "Thank you for all those provisions!" It sounds silly, but that's exactly what it is when man contrives his own religion. It's ridiculous, and yet it happens every day.

You are a smart person Paul. You see, you don't need a religion to be saved.
If you die and you believe Jesus was the Son of God. You won't go to hell.
You don't need any proof of that!

I'm not sure that anyone has really answered the question. I believe you are asking why you must accept Jesus NOW! rather than coming to your own conclusions in your own time. The notion that you should accept first, justify later seriously biases the logical path. From this perspective you will also be seeking a pre-defined answer and this defys logic at the root of its definition. I suggest that you continue looking and relax in the knowledge that you are intelligent for a reason weather it is Gods greater design or not. You simply are what you are and forcing yourself to believe something that your not comfortable with is a lie to yourself and this in itself is a great sin. I am a good person. I treat my friend and family with great repect and I help those that I can. If my creator would shun me for simply needing to ponder the "big question" a little longer, then I question his judgement.

Take your time, open you mind to the possibilities, make the effort and the answer will present itself to you... not the reverse.

Don't jsut take our word for it. Test it! Go at it tooth and nail and try to take the Bible apart. It'll stand the test hands-down
