A non-sinful act, but won't do it regardless

I don't know the age of this woman, but it's possible she got this ideology during the era I grew up in.

When I was a teenager in the 90's there was a very heavy push toward purity and abstinence for Christian youth. There were things like "True Love Waits" (which is a misleading title), and purity rings (with vows and creepy ceremonies in some circles).

We were taught, encourage, pressured, and shamed into making extreme vows of purity and virtually making oaths (which is forbidden by Jesus) to remain pure and avoid any sexual arousal or causing temptation at all cost (in the most extreme variatations of this movement).

Ideas, suggestions, and teachings that avoiding physical contact was of the utmost importance. In my denomination I was in at the time, we were not even allowed to dance. We were cautioned that kissing lead to arousal and desire. The more you kiss and the more intimate type of kiss you did, the more arousal you would cause. Once you start down that path, you will eventually end up wanting to have sex, and if you aren't careful, you will.

It was also paired with a teaching that girls have to be cautious not tempt the boys because if you do, then it's not their fault. If a boy or a man gets aroused to a certain point, he will not be able to help himself, he will not be able to stop, and you are the one to blame if it happens because guys just can't help it.

So, for me, what she said isn't unheard of. It's rare, extreme, and most of us have chucked it by now. However, I understand where that thinking can come from.

I do want to say that I personally do not enjoy messy kisses. It just grosses me out. I would not be a good candidate for someone who enjoys heavy kissing.

When I first read the title I thought everyone was sharing things we just don't want to do. I'm a little disappointed. I got a list.

sir I respect your view that kissing should be a liberty. But unfortunately kissing for me, was just a gateway to more sinful things. Heavy petting, and worse. It starts at just a kiss, until the kiss gets boring. My first girlfriend in highschool was a leader in the youthgroup at church. And she taught me how to kiss. Then one day she said to me. "do all you know how to do is kiss?" Well that to me was the green light. But it was not God saying that. That was her sinful desire. See she had a relationship before me, and she probably did some not so great things. But ever since that day, I struggled with purity all the way up until the Lord provided me a wife. This ruined many relationships by impurity before I was 25 years of age.

This is just like my life. I kissed a girl I thought I would marry, and it was just a gateway for more, and led to years of sexual enslavement. Thanks for posting. If God sees fit to one day bring a woman into my life, this post will help me redouble my effort to keep my lips pure.
