have you purchased the new readers edition of the book of concord yet?

available from concordia publishing house.

I could not beleive the low price.

every lutheran should have there own copy of the book of concord study it and learn why we are lutherans.

I honestly beleive if one realy studies what and the why of the lutheran confessions we would all stay Lutherans.

the difference between lutherans and Christians of other folds is the lutheran way of scripture - holding our reason captive to Gods word.

The second readers edition is a great book to have. I wish that my first BOC would have been this one. Instead I had to buy the Kolb/Wengert edition. Though I have gotten a lot of use out of mine it has a lot of gender neutral language in it that Tappert does not.

I realy like my 2nd readers edition of the BOC also.
i also like the pictures and the explaning of the pictures and of course of the lutheran slogan and the interesting settings and stories it tells about.,to be honest I thought the Boc it would be a boring book but it really is facinating. a must have for every lutheran. no matter what church fellowship they belong to.

I got mine. I have never read The BOC before, so I am really enjoying it and learning a lot.

Howdy, and welcome to the board.

I had a 1st edition and gave it to someone in the congregation. Then the Adult Bible class gave me a leather bound copy about 4 months ago. Very nice!

Goes well with my Triglotta, Tappert, Kolb/Wingert.

In Christ's love,

I love mine as well. I have the Kolb/Wengert and Tappert editions and this one is by far the easiest to read.

Even my non-Lutheran fiance enjoys reading it.

I bought a book of Luther's Table Talk...oh that man is a SCREAM sometimes. Love how he calls the Pope a "Blockhead" and "Coo coo"

Fascinating reading though. I learn so much from just a few minutes study that it's slow reading but fast going...if you get what I mean.

We got the first edition, and went through it in adult Sunday School. When the list of errors and concerns came out, we went through those, too. It was fascinating to discuss and learn it with other people. When the second edition came out, we definitely got a copy.

While I'm on vacation here in WELS country, I've started reading the Table Talk book. I flipped through it on our 13 hour drive through the UP of Michigan and found some very entertaining stories.

Nah, my oldest son is the one who fishes, and he's pretty much permanently parked at Lake Leelanau with my folks this summer. When I visit them I'll probably do some dock fishing, though.

We pretty much flew through the UP along Highway 2. Very scenic drive, but they have a heavy police presence and the speed limit that is enforced is 59, four miles over the posted limit.

I LOVED reading Table Talk!!! I even have some funny notes I took from it as I had borrowed the book from my Pastor years ago.

Ok, I pulled out my notebook and here's a funny story...if it's too disgusting I'll edit it out later after hearing complaints (hopefully I won't receive any):

A Story About a Dog Who was Lutheran
Between April 11 and June 14, 1542

Once when there was a procession with banners around a church, the verger put the holy water pot on the ground. A dog came along and (ooops can't type that word) into the holy water pot. A priest noticed this because he was sprinkling the water, and he said, "You impious dog! Have you become a Lutheran too?"
