I found this in my phone, i wrote it while water-fasting several months ago, I always get good revelations while fasting.... I thought I'd share it:
"Im starting to see how vain it is to eat for pleasure and how lusting after food and eating to feel good is similar to going for drugs or alcohol- we have an emptiness in our heart and soul that we fill with food to feel good, but after done eating we feel guilty and empty- we must fast to get to the bottom of our spirit and see how we must have God heal us at our deepest being behind all the flesh, food, and years of built of walls we put up. True energy comes from a healthy spirit. We must crucify the flesh first through fasting to build up our spirit and then food is simply an aid to give us physical energy, while giving some pleasure to our taste buds in the process. Without allowing God to heal our wounds and flaws in our spirit then we will constantly be depending on the flesh to give us energy and guide us. A damaged and broken spirit leads to using food, drugs, cigarettes, sex, religion, sports, hobbies, career, school, family, relationships, money, caffiene, alcohol, material posessions, TV, facebook, smart phones, video games, the internet, vacations, gossiping, education, and many other things to bring pleasure to our flesh in an attempt to fill a void in our hearts that only God can fill and the best way to bring ourselves to a spot where God can heal our broken hearts is by starving the flesh down by fasting"
