Why Lord?

Lord, why are so many weary?
Why do more seem asleep?
Why are some churches dreary?
They fail young lambs to keep

What must be done, what is to blame?
What are we doing wrong?
Though You! My God remain the same
What’s happened with faith’s song?

Why don’t we see more worshipers bloom?
Why more each day are lost
Unlike those in the upper room
Observing Pentecost

Lord, why is life’s power waning?
Why healing seems most gone
While the devil’s realm is gaining
Against that of your Son

Christ Jesus the King of kings, Lord
Who faced death’s cruellest blow
Rising again, as true life’s Sword
To fight our common foe

Finding hell’s road beguiling
Seeking life’s narrow Way
More crafty devils are smiling
Leading the weak astray

While knowing Lord God, only You
Can change man’s heart and soul
Through Jesus’ blood, grant birth anew
And guide to true life’s goal

So help the church, not serve in vain
Through power as before
In Jesus’ name let’s rise again
As saints through Heaven’s door…..
