Artificial birth control usage is a sin. It is a grave sin. Sex is meant to be open to life and also pleasureful but artificial contraception makes sex into an unnatural thing: a thing which is not open to life. Read on for more information about why birth control usage is a grave sin:

Tell me, is one who practices birth control obeying God's command to be fruitful and multiply? No, they are not.
(Gen 38:9 RSV) But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother's wife he spilled the sperm on the ground, lest he should give offspring to his brother.
(Gen 38:10 RSV) And what he did was displeasing in the sight of the LORD, and he slew him also.
As you can see, Onan clearly disobeyed God's commandment by spilling his seed on the ground. (Deu 23:1 RSV) "He whose testicles are crushed or whose male member is cut off shall not enter the assembly of the LORD.
God did not want deliberately infertile people entering into the assembly of the Lord.
(Psa 127:3 RSV) Lo, sons are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.
Children are a gift from God. Who would want to willfully reject God's gifts?
(1Co 6:19 RSV) Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own;
(1Co 6:20 RSV) you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
How is using birth control glorifying God?
