Where has the Truth Gone?
In today’s world today the truth is fiction. Everyone has a truth. Some have alterative truths. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise when there is so many points of view of right and wrong. There is no framework for distinguishing what is truth. This has been progressing for a few centuries. Once truth was derived from God, today this is not so therefore all the diverse values of what’s right and wrong.
The worlds behaviors are culturally driven. Our values are formed by the cultural. We get our values living in it. Here in the USA, we have gone topsy turvy. This is so in today’s church in America, even though its values are derived from Scripture. It has fallen into bondage of the tradition, philosophies, and vain deceit of man (Col.2:8). I believe this is a sign of the times of the church, as described in Revelation, Jesus speaks of a lukewarm church and spew them out of His mouth (Rev. 3:14-16).
So, if this is the Scriptural disposition of the church in these days what are we to do? Those who have an understanding must speak the truth even though it maybe be attacked or ignored. There is a bondage held over the church today so, only the Word of God can break it for those who are willing to listen and obey.
As Scripture states, “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:” Eph. 2:2
We are all in bondage and a slave to this fallen world values until the time appointed by the Father. Scripture reveals to us that we really have no free will just a freedom of choice (We have not the will to choose God. This is the result of our fallen nature. It is God who choses us). We follow the path of this world until the Father make us known to Him (John 6:44) Then we have a choice to obey him by our freewill that we obtain by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit or fall back to enslavement into bondage, to the beggarly elements. I reveal this so that you understand what has happened to the church. It has been going on from the start of the church of Christ, but I am focusing on now in this age.
Paul says in 2 Corinthian 10:4-5 states “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the:44 pulling down of strong holds. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
The church has elevated issued against the knowledge of God. Paul uses different terms to describe this rudiments, elements of this world that hold the lives of society together. Some today are social organization, customs/traditions, religion, government, language, arts/literature, and economy. Within these there are subcultures as well. These Churches are influenced by these systems. They hold on to issues such as abortion, gay marriage, illegal immigration, no gun control, and more. These perceive issues take a stronghold in their lives. I am not saying that these issues are not important, but they should not replace sound biblical doctrine. Paul says this in Galatians 4:9
“But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?”
These cultural issues are only one facet of stronghold that bound the Body of Christ. The way the church is structured is another stronghold. Such as membership in a local church and a constitution to appease the 501c designation. I could go on but I leave you with this.
Truth will prevail. Jesus will come back to right it. We who have an understanding must hold fast and let the Holy Spirit through the Word of God ferment in believer hearts. This is our weapon of war. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
