When Will You Understand?

“Pay heed, you senseless among the people;
And when will you understand, stupid ones?
He who planted the ear, does He not hear?
He who formed the eye, does He not see?
He who chastens the nations, will He not rebuke,
Even He who teaches man knowledge?
The Lord knows the thoughts of man,
That they are a mere breath.” (Psalm 94:8-11 NASB1995)

The following is a picture the Lord is giving me of a practical application of this Scripture to our culture in the USA today, which could apply anywhere in the world where it is applicable. What he is giving me a picture of this morning is of people who are like spiders spinning webs of deceit for the people to get caught in. They particularly prey upon people’s weaknesses, their lack of knowledge, their vulnerabilities, and/or their trusting natures. And they convince many people to believe and to follow their lies.

These people, who are like spiders, don’t all look alike or act alike, either. They have different characters and natures and ways in which they spin their webs of deceit in order to capture their prey. Some are like chameleons who change colors (natures, personalities, characters) in order to blend in with their environments. Some are the double-minded people who go back and forth between what they claim to believe depending upon whom they are with, or depending upon what sins they want to approve for themselves.

These are deliberately deceptive people who find all different kinds of ways to trick people into believing their lies. So they all wear different “masks” and “disguises” depending upon who they are trying to fool, and depending on the nature of the deception, too. So they may change their behaviors, attitudes, opinions, and characters temporarily in order to pull off their scam and/or scheme. For their mission is to poison other people’s minds and hearts with the lies so that the people will believe the lies and not the truth.

Many of these people make a profession of lying and deceiving and tricking and manipulating other people into believing the lies. They are deeply absorbed in plotting out how they are going to trick different people into believing a variety of lies. So these are people who are malicious, cruel, spiteful, and bitter, who know they are injecting poison into people’s minds, and that they are sending many people straight to hell on the promise of heaven. But they are vicious people who enjoy damaging other people.

And some of them are those who want others to believe their lies in order to cover up other lies they have told that they don’t want discovered, and in order to keep their secrets and deceitful and immoral practices from being discovered by those who are wiser, more perceptive, and who test what they hear to make certain that what they are hearing is the truth. And sometimes they will willfully slander those who they know are wise to their deceptions, in order to get other people to reject them, in favor of believing the lies.

These liars and deceivers, these manipulators, and those who lay traps for others to fall into, who are living wicked and immoral lives, some of whom are disguising themselves as “good Christians,” are the senseless and the stupid (unwise, reckless, self-indulgent) ones who think God does not see what they are doing in the dark when no one else can see. And/or else they have deceived themselves into believing that God will not judge them, but that he will let them into his heaven just because they claimed him as Lord.

But Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

Broken Cord

Your bond is broken with your Lord and Savior
And your testimony is separate from Him.
Your words not matching your actions today.
Repent of your sin and bow down and pray.
Live what you testify in truth always.

Purity’s lacking in your life and witness,
For you profess one thing, but other you do.
Not moral, spiritual. Still of the flesh.
Not living in truth to what you confess.
Lying about it puts you in a mess.

Living a lie is your practice, ‘tis true of you.
Masquerade righteousness – none of it true.
Your heart is not given to your Lord God.
Because of how you live, you are a fraud.
Turn from your sin and give your life to God.
