  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When Praise Humbles Us

Psalm 34:1-2
(1) I will bless Adonai at all times;
his praise will always be in my mouth.

(2) When I boast, it will be about Adonai;
the humble will hear of it and be glad.
(CJB)

Are there styles of music in the church that make us wary? How about the mannerisms of some as they praise or sing within a service? The above verses can help us to not just accept differences but to rejoice in them. We can know that
we are walking in the humility that God requires
if the praise of others causes us to give thanks to God for His reigning in their lives. This is because we will have gained an understanding that intimacy with God within the expression of praise is a work of the Holy Spirit--indeed, a miracle. God's active relationship in the lives of others should be a cause of joy and a further motivation for us to know Jesus, Who is One with Father.

And this is about far more than our praise within the four walls of a church!
"I will bless Adonai at all times" means always, everywhere". Praise is
a 24/7 thing. Expressed by word, deed and thought. The world thus
because our cathedral and the stained glass windows are the memories
of saints past and our consciousness of fellow--living saints, whose lives of devotion and praise to the Almighty flank our faith walk.
