Occasionally, you see parents who will let their children have whatever outrageous things they want, under the justification of "love." No... love is not letting your children run wild. Love means caring enough to make sure your child stays on the right path. That doesn't mean controlling them. That means, when they go down a road that leads to pain or, worse, damnation, you will correct them. God loves those He corrects.
God wants you to be happy, but He cannot tolerate sin, because He also wants to save your life. A responsible parent will want their child to do well in school and stay away from bad company... why? Because they care about their child's future. When you were a kid, you may not have understood why your parents were so concerned about these things... just as many people don't quite understand why it's important to follow God's rules. It's for our future.
So, I've learned that God corrects us... because He cares.
