To fear, or not to fear

This blog has led to things that I never expected, but I praise God for. It’s led to people asking me more and more questions about their faith, life, relationships, and everything in between. If there’s one obvious point of reference I’ve noticed in the comments section, it’s that a lot of people are afraid. In these times of economic uncertainties, fear of end times, and political unrest, people are just flat out scared.
Proverbs 28:1, The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
There’s two types of people identified in today’s passage, the one who fears due to lack of faith, and the one who stands firm because they know that Jesus Christ will be there no matter what life may bring.
I’m in close contact with two awesome Pastors right now, one in the Philippines, and one in Pakistan. Now the one in the Philippines has every reason to fear. He is trying to feed an entire villiage of children on a shoestring budget. His ministry is literally the difference between life and starvation for these precious kids, yet he knows that the Lord will provide, and he stands strong in that faith because of his lack of fear. The other Pastor is preaching the message of Jesus Christ in Pakistan, and the penalty for doing that in a Muslim country is DEATH. That’s right, death, yet he has no fear because he knows that the message he’s praching will mean eternal life for so many. There’s no fear because he stands strong in that faith because of lack of fear. Yet here we stand, in the safety of our well fed nation where we can preach the Word of Christ without having to worry that someone will kill us, worried about the minor details in life.
I’m not saying that our problems don’t warrant being concerned about, I am just saying that when we face our fears, we need to bring them to the Lord like these two brave Pastors, and so many others before them have. The first part of today’s passage says that the wicked man pursues though no one follows. This is merely saying that we’re worrying about something that God can handle, so we don’t have to run from it. When we fear the problem, we’re making the fear stronger than God. Philippians 4:13 says that we can do anything through Christ who strengthens us. this includes being able to look fear in the face and still do the work of God knowing that he has our back. He will not let anything happen to his children.
The greatest tool that Satan has in his inventory is fear. he uses it to seprate us from god To make us so focused on worries that we take our eyes off of the Lord. To make us blame God for something He didn’t do. Don’t let fear take you from a closer relationship with the Lord. Like the second half of today’s verse. stand strong as lion in the face of fear. Stand strong becuase you know that Christ is walking in front of you clearing out the evil like a lawnmower going through grass. the path is clear, walk through it in peace and boldness.
Walking in the peace of the Lord,
Pastor Mike
P.S. Please pray for our Pastors in the Philippines and Pakistan.
