With the Voice Bible out switching out the "Christ" with the "Anointed One", I want to share a very serious oversight for doing so.
When there are various definitions of words in one language alone, it can get lost in translation. We need to read how the word was used in scripture to define its actual meaning.
Below are the testimonies that links the title of Christ with deity and thus meaning more than just "the Anointed One".
Matthew 16:16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Simon Peter has said it.
Matthew 26:63But Jesus held his peace, And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
The high priest has said it.
Mark 1:1The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
Mark has said it as synonymous with the name of Jesus as being the Son of God.
Luke 4:41And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
The devils had said it as Christ was meaning He is the Son of God.
John 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. 70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? 71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
Although Simon Peter was speaking for himself and the disciples, Jesus acknowledged this, but declared that there was one among them that did not believe Him to be the Christ, the Son of the living God.
John 11:27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
Martha has testified that she knew what the Christ meant as being the Son of God that should come into the world.
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. 30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
The apostle John went out of his way to make sure everybody knew what Jesus being the Christ meant: the Son of God is God.
No one else can be called the Christ as the One prophesied that should come into the world.
John 3:28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. 29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
Here is the prophesy:
Isaiah 48:16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me. 17 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.
Here is the fulfillment of that prophesy when the Father and his Spirit did testify of the Son as God that was sent.
Matthew 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Bible versions & BibleNET will obscure that prophesy as referring to Cyrus, but Cyrus cannot speak for God because he did not know Him to be the one that was speaking here in Isaiah 48:16-17.
To prove that, let's go to where God did speak of Cyrus.
Isaiah 45:1Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; 2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: 3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. 4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me. 5 I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: 6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.
Now Cyrus was God's anointed, and God testified to Israel, not to Cyrus, why Cyrus was chosen as it was for Jacob's His servant's sake and Isreal His elect in verse 4. God testified to Israel that Cyrus did not know Him in verses 4 & 5.
Secular history has preserved a record of Cyrus's prayer as it was addressed to several gods, proving he was hardly a man chosen to be representing God, but a man chosen to be used by God for Israel's sake.
Cyrus had called the God of the Jews Marduk in relations to several other gods, proving he did not know the God of Israel.
So one has to wonder how well educated men are these days when it comes to translation, going to the letter of the text, but failing to see how it was used in the scripture to really define the use of the term. One can follow their reasoning why the "Christ" was switched out with the "Anointed One", but it is an understatement and a work of iniquity when it is declining from the testimony of the Son and messing with what is synonymous to be used with His name as being God.
"They" are already saying that because christ means anointed one that there were other types of "christs" in the past.
No... there were no other christs in the past as the Christ is the One that was sent into the world as being the Son of the living God.
1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.~~ KJV
This warning should be heeded because by denying Jesus is the only Christ, then they are also denying His deity because it is the same as denying the Father & the Son.
1 John 2:22 The liar is the one who says, “Jesus is not really the Anointed One.” This is the antiChrist, the one denying both the Father and the Son. 23 Anyone who denies the Son does not know the Father. The one affirming the Son enjoys an intimate relationship with the Father as well. ~~ "The Voice" Bible Version
Are we not anointed? Does not the Bible declare that we are anointed? Even the Voice Bible Version testify to this.
1 John 2: 27 You have an anointing. You received it from Him, and His anointing remains on you. You do not need any other teacher. But as His anointing instructs you in all the essentials (all the truth uncontaminated by darkness and lies), it teaches you this: “Remain connected to Him.” ~~ "The Voice" Bible Version
But we are not the christs. John the Baptist whom was anointed from the womb with the Holy Ghost was anointed but even he has said that he was not the Christ.
Follow that in the Voice Bible...

Let's face it. We really have no business messing with the name of Jesus Christ as no one else can be the christ, but every believer has been anointed by God with the seal of the Holy Spirit.
The Voice Bible is denying Jesus being the only Christ when they switch out with the Anointed One. Some are saying now that there were other types of christs before Him so no one can say that small leaven in the Voice Bible isn't leavening into a whole big fat lie in leading believers into denying Jesus being the only Christ because Christ refers to deity wherein by doing so, they are denying the Father & the Son at the same time, and thus they are denying His deity.
Antichrist means "instead of Christ" as used in scripture, and to be clearer still, "instead of the Son" because no one can replace Jesus as the Christ. No one can be His substitute for that would make him the antichrist.
1 Corinthians 11:3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
I see no one else as standing in His place as being the Head of the believer nor of the Church as only the Christ is the Head of the Church where God would be and is, because Christ is God.
