The Graveyard Watch

Is death the only course that’s left?
Does life not lead to hope?
Is but the grave life’s longed for cleft?
For those who fail to cope

Death’s hand may squeeze us like a grape
Till dried up bones we find
How sad so many won’t escape
Because their eyes are blind

Believing death is endless night
The grave eternal peace
The sinful mind finds such delight
That all life’s pains could cease

The grave reveals a sad surprise
To those who Christ don’t share
For after death they’ll realise
The truth is found elsewhere

The Truth The Life The only Way
In found in Jesus Christ
Is found by those who seek today
In whom God sacrificed

For graves in truth are just like wombs
Where bones may lie in rest
But unlike sinners in their tombs
We’ll rise eternal blessed

We’ll reach Salvation’s far off shore
When free of life’s alarms
In death we’ll find The Father’s Door
That leads to Jesus’ arms

The rest will rise to find defeat
They’ll rise to live again
They’ll rise to face God’s judgement seat
