Summer...

How is your summer so far? Tomorrow is August 1st, which is usually unofficially the end of summer. It's the time when people start putting away their swimsuits, their freedom and start to focus on school or whatever else they have going on. Most kids start back to school this month anyways...but that doesn't mean the hot weather and fun times go away.

Me, my summer was very uneventful. I always used to pride myself on having the greatest summers ever. I remember last summer we had a young adults camping trip up to my family's cabin and property in Hilman, MI (half hour south of Alpena for your Michiganders ) That was a WILD weekend! I remember when we would hook a trailer to the back of my truck and we put lawn chairs and such in the back of the trailer and just drive down the trail. It was even more fun when people WILLINGLY got into the back of my truck and we went really fast down the bumpy trail. Of course, nobody got hurt and it was fun.

I still remember how Curtis took the four-wheeler out and got lost because he took trails I told him NOT to go on and we all went out looking for him. It was scary, but we can look back and laugh. Or our method of waking people up who slept in the tents outside...step outside, load the shotgun and shoot into the sky. Yes, don't ever go camping with me LOL!

The summer before last was a blast. Our church owns a camp in Rose City called New Life Camp and they invite people to come in a week or so before camp season starts and clean the place up and get it ready. Well, my best friend and I went and spent all kinds of time making fun of each other, talking about our crushes from that year and eating tons of food. Those were good times.

But this summer...I didn't do anything fun. I probably read 20 Stephen King novels (literally) and wrote a short story, but that's about it. I wouldn't call driving from Oregon to Nebraska an event either. It was sheer terror! So, that was my summer. I feel bummed out I didn't do anything. But I promise to make it all up next year!!
