Being of the law simply means putting God's will ahead of our own. This of course goes against mankind's natural tendency to put our self interests first, our original sin. No wonder so many deny it, wanting both the ways of the world and the Kingdom. God says simply, we can't have both and expect a good outcome. Man says, no problem in what we do to serve self, for we are forgiven, ignoring the fact we were told to REPENT. Repent means change and the result is a natural tendency not to focus on self, which of course brings good results for others, what many call works AS A RESULT. Salvation was a gift, but there are rules.
