Most people are brainwashed before they even get into religion. We are trained since birth to operate in the society around us. If that means allegiance to that society, we are already lost. For we have been trained to follow the narrative of man, thus seeing everything including God through that tainted lens. You can quote me on that. Even Jesus and His counter-culture to the world of man was met head on by the same pre-conceived notions of humanity. We saw how that worked out for Him at the time. It is hard to see past all of that training while seeking the Kingdom when there is so much out there saying 'see it our way'. 'Interpret God according to what we have first taught you about the world of man, so that you may interpret Him from our worldly viewpoint'. Backwards thinking.
