  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Slight Of Hand

It seems to me the good in humanity is in constant conflict with the bad. The old cowboy movies made that clear. Yet we could say that the mid 20th century was a good time for many of the first world nations even though there were constant wars.

What made it good was not us or our godly ideals, but a sense of prosperity for those with the upper hand. It was when this prosperity started to dwindle towards the end of that century and up until now, that we now seem to see the world as swinging back to the bad (a natural cycle in history).

Will good overcome this new setback? Jesus said no, not until His return will the cycle end. Even then the world will unite against Him because it will be unwilling to let go of itself and it's self destructive ways. Winners always lose in the end simply because the way that they won in the first place was not out of loving neighbour as self, but by might.

How many confuse prosperity with God's will being done?
