People are happy to delude themselves into thinking what a wonderful world this is, knowing full well it is both good and evil. Even our memories prefer to dwell on the good and forget about how messed up life and we ourselves were/are. This world was built in man's image of self interest, often at the expense of others. The very reasons we were booted from the Garden.
Self interest promotes evil, not good. Most people prefer to not look at the big picture, preferring instead what is presented to them in daily snippets as a truth good enough to fend off the fear. Not fear so we will cling to leaders to protect us, but fear of seeing who those leaders really are. ' All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.' Deluding ourselves doesn't change what is in charge of this world.
